Indonesian Men's Gymnasts Ready for Battle at Jakarta Gymnastics 2025

The 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships will begin on Sunday, October 19, 2025. Five Indonesian men's gymnasts are ready to showcase their best performances at the Indonesia Arena, Jakarta.
Performing before their home crowd, the five are determined to make Jakarta Gymnastics 2025 a testament to their worthiness. Moreover, they will face world-class gymnasts.
"So far, (I'm) quite ready because we've been preparing since last year. We've been to Japan and Russia, and after training camp, we went straight to competitions. That's where we developed our competitive mentality," said Abiyu Raffi.
Satria Tri Wira Yudha echoed this sentiment during a training session. He added that he gained a wealth of experience during his time at the national training camp, both during training camps and in various competitions abroad.
"One of the things I'm excited about is being able to try new equipment because there's a lot of equipment in gymnastics. Different brands and types. I'm also very motivated because this is a prestigious competition and Indonesia is hosting it."
Joseph Judah Hatoguan, who had been on a six-month hiatus for health reasons, can't wait to show off his skills at the Indonesia Arena. The opportunity to compete in the world championships is a dream come true.
"Actually, there's a bit of sadness. I want to do my best, but I can't because of the new point code regulations. (Meanwhile) I'm still in the series from six months ago," Joseph said.
Agung Suci Tantio Akbar and Muhammad Aprizal also expressed their determination to showcase their best moves. Being the host gymnasts doesn't burden them.
"Preparations are optimal, especially since the WCH (world championships) is my first major event since the 2018 Asian Games. As for motivation, we've met several great athletes," said Agung Akbar.
"We had a training camp in Russia for about three weeks. Technically, the movements are the same. But the difference is more in the experience. Now we're in the final stages, just perfecting the movements," Aprizal said.
