The 2025 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships are set to kick off, with around 427 of the world’s top gymnasts competing at Indonesia Arena, Jakarta, from October 19–25.
Comprehensive preparations have been made to ensure the smooth running and success of this prestigious global event.
President of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), Morinari Watanabe, praised Indonesia’s efforts and highlighted the historical significance of the championship.
“The World Championships in Jakarta mark an important milestone. This is the first-ever Artistic Gymnastics World Championships held in Southeast Asia. We hope this event will leave a lasting legacy and help promote healthier societies through gymnastics,” said Watanabe.
FIG Secretary General Nicolas Boumpane also applauded the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation (FGI) and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for their dedication and professionalism in preparing for the event. 73 National Federations and Athletes with Individual Neutral status (AIN) are confirmed to take part in this prestigious event.
“Let’s start by recognizing the incredible quality of what Indonesia has achieved. We have over 1,200 accredited participants and 73 national federations represented here. The LOC has done an outstanding job — the facilities and organization are truly impressive. We’re very pleased with Indonesia’s commitment and hard work,” Boumpane stated.
President of the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation, Ita Yuliati, expressed pride in Indonesia’s role as host of this world-class competition.
“We are honored to host the 53rd Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. This is a proud moment for Indonesia to demonstrate its capability in organizing global sporting events while promoting the growth of gymnastics nationwide,” Ita said.
She added that FGI, together with all partners, has ensured every element of preparation—from venue readiness and competition systems to volunteer coordination and safety measures—meets international standards set by FIG.
“Our priority is to make sure athletes, officials, and guests feel safe and comfortable in Indonesia, allowing them to focus entirely on their best performances,” she continued.
Beyond being a prestigious global tournament, this championship also represents a key step in advancing gymnastics development in Indonesia.
“We hope this event will leave a meaningful legacy for the sport’s future — not only through athletic achievements but also by strengthening the values of sportsmanship, perseverance, and national pride,” Ita emphasized.
FGI also calls for the Indonesian public to cheer on the athletes and take part in making history for Indonesian sports.
