Indonesia Gymnastics Federation Reports Preparation to Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito
JAKARTA (May 7, 2024) – The Indonesia Gymnastics Federation moved quickly following the official selection of Jakarta as the host city for the 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, October 19–25, 2025.
President of Indonesia Gymnastics Federation Ita Yuliati reported the initial preparations to the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo at the Ministry's office in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/5/24).
“We informed to Minister Dito that FIG (Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique) has officially appointed Jakarta as the host of the 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships 2025. We shared our initial preparations, as this is a historic moment for Indonesia, and we sought guidance and support from the government—especially from Minister Dito—so that we can maximize the momentum of the World Championships for the advancement of Indonesian sports,” said Ita.
Last weekend, FIG officially announced Jakarta as the host city for the 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships 2025, following a vote by the FIG Executive Committee. This marks the first time Indonesia will host the prestigious Gymnastics World Championships.
According to Ita, Jakarta’s selection as host reflects FIG’s trust in Indonesia. She added that this aligns with the goals of the National Sports Grand Design (DBON) as part of the long-term vision toward achieving “Indonesia Emas 2045” or "Golden Indonesia 2045".
“As the ‘mother of all sports,’ gymnastics is proud to contribute. We believe that hosting the World Championships will boost gymnastics development in Indonesia and inspire a new generation to become elite athletes who proudly represent the Red and White on the global stage,” she added.
Following Jakarta’s selection, Ita noted that there are still several administrative matters to be finalized with FIG, including the formation of the local organizing committee.
“There’s a lot of work ahead, and we are fully committed to collaborating with FIG, the Indonesian government, and all sports stakeholders to ensure a successful and unforgettable World Championships,” said Ita.
Meanwhile, Minister Dito Ariotedjo welcomed the good news brought by the Indonesia Gymnastics Federation and expressed his hopes for the success of the upcoming event.
“Their visit was to report that Indonesia has been officially appointed by FIG as the host for 2025 in Jakarta. The government is thrilled because gymnastics is the mother of all sports—a discipline we must strengthen due to its prestige in the Olympic Games and global arena,” said Dito during a press conference.
“The World Championships, which will be joined by participants from 70 countries, will also serve as a platform to promote Jakarta and its world-class sports facilities. Indonesia is ready to host a world-class championship event.”
