Jakarta to Host 2025 World Gymnastics Championship, Local Government Vows Strong Support

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has pledged full support for the upcoming 53rd World Gymnastics Championship, which will be held in Jakarta from October 19 to 25, 2025. His commitment is aimed at ensuring the international event runs smoothly and successfully.
“We fully support Jakarta Gymnastics 2025 because we also want to promote Jakarta as a new tourist destination,” Pramono said during a meeting with the Chair of the Indonesia Gymnastics Federation, Ita Yuliati, on Thursday, July 31.
Also present at the meeting was the Federation’s Secretary General, Sri Sary Kencana Ayu Sundari. Ita welcomed the government’s support, noting that the involvement of the Jakarta administration will be crucial in areas such as promotion, hospitality for international athletes, and overall event logistics.
“We’re grateful to have had the chance to meet with the Governor. He responded positively and assured us that the Jakarta government will help make Jakarta Gymnastics 2025 a success,” Ita said.
She emphasized that active participation from the local government would enhance Jakarta’s reputation on the global stage, especially with hundreds of athletes expected to take part in the championship.
The city government has been ramping up efforts to promote sports as part of its urban development strategy. A recent example is its support for the Jakarta International Marathon.
To gear up for the championship, Indonesia has already sent male gymnasts to Japan for a month-long training camp. They are also scheduled to undergo further training and test competitions in Hungary in the near future.
