The Indonesian Gymnastics Federation (Gimnastik Indonesia) reaffirmed its stance aligning with the Indonesian government and the public regarding the participation of Israeli athletes in the 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships (Jakarta Gymnastics 2025), scheduled for October 19–25, 2025 at Indonesia Arena, Jakarta.

Gimnastik Indonesia has also conveyed Indonesia’s position to the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) concerning the diplomatic relations among participating countries when Indonesia was designated as the host, so that adjustments could be made in accordance with the prevailing national situation and conditions. One of the countries that does not have diplomatic relations with Indonesia is Israel.

“This is an official FIG championship, and our role is to serve as the Local Organizing Committee (LOC). All decisions related to competition rules, registration, and participating countries are under the sole authority of FIG,” said Ita Yuliati, Chairwoman of the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation.

Following Indonesia’s stance and the recent global situation, the FIG decided that Israeli gymnasts will not compete in Jakarta Gymnastics 2025.

Alhamdulillah, FIG understands Indonesia’s position. This understanding is significant, as our federation consistently upholds national laws and prioritizes the safety of all athletes and delegations participating in the championship. Therefore, it is confirmed that Israel will not appear in this event,” Ita stated.

As this matter resolved, Ita urged everyone to focus on ensuring the event’s success and to see it as a key milestone in advancing gymnastics in Indonesia.

Amid the ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, particularly in Gaza, the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation also reiterated its support for peace efforts.

“We continue to pray for peace to prevail in Gaza,” Ita added.

Meanwhile, Raja Sapta Oktohari, President of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia), expressed respect for the decision regarding Israel’s non-participation.

“The decision was made after careful consideration. There are greater interests at stake—namely ensuring that the world championship proceeds safely, orderly, and successfully for everyone involved,” said Okto.

The FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, first held in Antwerp, Belgium in 1903, is one of the world’s oldest gymnastics tournaments. Jakarta will make history as the first city in Southeast Asia to host the event.
