Jakarta Gymnastics 2025 Kicks Off Officialy

The 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships have officially kicked off at Indonesia Arena, Jakarta, marked by a vibrant Betawi traditional dance performance.
FIG President, Morinari Watanabe, said the world is witnessing a historic moment as the World Championships are being held in Southeast Asia for the first time. He also praised Jakarta as a fitting and dynamic host city.
“Jakarta, a city of rich culture, warm people, and unstoppable movement, is the perfect place to celebrate gymnastics,” he said.
Watanabe extended his appreciation to the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation and the organizing committee for their dedicated efforts.
“I would like to thank Ms. Ita Yuliati, the Local Organising Committee and the Indonesia Gymnastics Federation for their flawless preparation of these World Championships. Your dedication and professionalism are truly inspiring,” he said.
Echoing his remarks, Ita Yuliati, President of the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation, emphasized that this event—featuring 427 athletes from around the globe—represents more than just a sporting contest.
“This championship is the realization of Indonesia’s long-held dreams and ambitions in gymnastics. It marks an important milestone in our efforts to develop and energize the sport across the nation,” Ita said.
She added that beyond showcasing athletic excellence, the event also serves as a platform for inspiring stories and motivation for Indonesia’s young gymnasts.
“May they always remember—no dream is too big, and no movement too small—to shine on the world stage,” she continued.
In her address, Ita also invited the audience to honor the memory of Naufal Takdir Al Bari, a young gymnast who passed away in Penza, Russia, on September 25, 2025, at just 19 years old.
“Here once grew the dream of our young gymnast, Naufal Takdir Al Bari, who never had the chance to perform on this world stage. Yet, his spirit lives on and continues to inspire us all,” Ita said.
She concluded by encouraging everyone to contribute to the success of the championship and spread inspiration to the world. “Let the competition begin—good luck to all athletes!”
