Two-time Olympic parallel bars gold medalist, Zou Jingyuan, said he was delighted to return to Jakarta for the 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, Oct. 19–25, 2025.

Seven years ago, Zou competed in the Asian Games 2018, but admitted that he spent most of his time inside the athletes’ village because of the schedule.

“I didn’t have enough time to explore or see much of [Jakarta] because the schedule was really tight at that time,” Zou said.

This time, the gymnast—born on January 3, 1998—said he had a good impression of Jakarta. Everyone had been very supportive since his arrival at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Including the accommodations, training center, and Indonesia Arena.

The Yibin, Sichuan-born gymnast hopes that the warm hospitality will translate into a strong performance at the world championships.

Here is the LOC Media Team’s interview with Zou Jingyuan:

Could you tell us about your preparation ahead of the world championships?

Well, because after the Paris Olympics, there was a period of readjustment. For this time: the World Championships, I am very much looking forward [to the championships], and I also took a long time to recover.

I am also very ready and hope to participate in this competition. Now, I am is also in a good state to participate. I also hope to get good results this time and perform well in the championships.

I hope I can feel Jakarta and Indonesia because I was here before in the Asian Games, but at that time I just stay at the athletes’ village.

I have no time to walk around and have a look [around], because the game was relatively tight at that time, it was more enjoyable in the village. The feeling is different this time. It is in the city, so I will feel more, I feel the greater awareness and cultural awareness of city, streets, and traffic.

You’ve described a good impression of Jakarta this time. Do you think that will help you win a medal at this world championships?

I think from volunteers and then from as soon as you get off the airport, there are volunteers and they keep arranging us and bringing us all the time. It led us to the hotel and was very good to our service. A special passion for our athletes

And after coming to the arena, it was also very first-class. I think it was… It's a great audition, it's a great audition. And hopefully, we can play [good] in this competition.

Then I feel like traffic in the city. Traffic was pretty good, and then, yeah, Just give us a lot, very, very similar [to China]. It's almost like… give us a lot of good memories and hope. Well, there will be more beautiful memories in this competition.
